Team Bergamo has been one of the premiere Martial Arts teams on the World
Martial Arts circuit since early 1999. Winning multiple World Championships in
Breaking and Self-Defense, the Team has gained fame for their professionalism,
intensity, commitment to the Martial Arts Community, and team unity. Team
Bergamo has been featured on Internationally televised airings of ESPN2's
coverage of the US Open World Martial Arts Championships, The Late Show with
David Letterman, and the Discovery Channel special Extreme Martial Arts.
Team Bergamo has performed their unique demonstrations of Extreme Breaking
and Self-Defense at venues such as The Arnold Martial Arts World Games, The
Action Martial Arts Trade Show and Expo Mega Martial Arts Weekend, The Oriental
World of Self-Defense, The North American Breaking Championships, The US
Breaking Championships, The IMAC World Championships, The Cactus Classic, The
Compete Tournament, The National Day of Martial Arts in Puerto Rico, and many
other top spots.
Team members have also shown their talent on the big screen, both in lead roles
and fight choreography, with the independent film 'The Agent', the short films
'Copy' and 'War of Attrition', and upcoming 2005 projects 'The Runner' and
'Chi'.
The team had great success in 2004. Member Raphael Velez became the first ever
Lightweight competitor to win all 3 major ISKA Lightweight Power Breaking
venues (The US Open, The North American Breaking Championships, and the United
States Breaking Championships), and at the same time setting a new Lightweight
Record by breaking 14 patio blocks. Member Leif Becker tied the World Record of
the most boards broken in one minute by breaking 415 boards on International TV
on The Late Show with David Lettermen. And member Colin Thompson won the World
Heavyweight Championship and set a new World Record by demolishing 16 patio
blocks with an elbow.
