Chandragiri Municipality Takes First Place in Taekwondo Championship

KATHMANDU: Chandragiri Municipality in Kathmandu clinched first place in the second Mayor’s Cup National Taekwondo Championship held at Bharatpur in Chitwan.

Chandragiri tops the list with six gold, one silver and three bronze. In the championship, the municipality of Gaindakot de Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta-Est) obtained the second position with 12 medals.

Gaindakot won five gold, five silver and two bronze medals, said Bikas Shrestha, president of the Nepal Chitwan chapter of the National Taekwondo Association.

Similarly, the metropolis of Bharatpur registered its third position with 12 medals. The metropolis won four gold, seven silver and 12 bronze medals.

The Madi Municipality of Chitwan won the consolation prize. The municipality won two gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

Pratika Thapa from Paiyu Rural Municipality (Parbat) and Sujan Karki from Chandragiri (Kathmandu) were announced as the best female and male players in the championship respectively.

No fewer than 300 players took part in the two-day tournament from all seven provinces.
