UDHAMPUR, November 22: The District Level Interzonal Tournament (DLIZ) for boys and girls of all age groups in the disciplines of Wushu, Taekwondo, Chess and Carrom kicked off at Subhash Stadium, here today.
About 134 boys and girls from six different areas of Udhampur district attended. The tournament is organized by Udhampur Youth Services and Sports Department under the patronage of Gazanfar Ali, Director of UT Youth Services and Sports of J&K and under the general supervision of DYSSO Udhampur, Swaran Singh.
In the girls category of Carrom, Neelam Devi of Udhampur, Sonia Sharma of Jib and Sonam Bharti of Udhampur placed 1st respectively in the categories of under 14, 17 and 19, while in the category of boys, Akhil Sharma and Rinku Sharma from Udhampur remained 1st in the Under 14s. and 17 categories respectively and in the chess girls section, Gourangi Sharma and Bhawana Sharma from Udhampur placed 1st in the under 14 and 19 categories respectively, in addition to the boys section, Arsh Singh, Akul Udhampur’s Mengi and Atul Kumar took the top positions in the Under-14s. , 17 and 19 categories respectively.
In the girls’ section of Wushu, Anamika Devi and Preeti Kumari from the Udhampur area obtained the first positions in the under-19 and 17-year-old categories respectively, while in the boys, Sumit Verma from Udhampur and Amarjeet Singh de Kulwanta placed 1st in the Under 14 and Under 17 categories respectively, in addition to Taekwondo. girls section, Batiksha Sharma from Udhampur took 1st place in the under 14 category in 29-32 kg, while Saanvi Kalra and Aditi Sharma from Jib placed 1st in the under 14 and 17 categories respectively and in the boys section, Hreedyansh, Antriksh Rajput and Sunil Singh of Udhampur remained 1st in the under 14, 17 and 19 categories respectively.
The officials who ran the tournament were Yashpal, Raj Kumar, Nisha Sharma, Deepak Sharma, Sourab Pandit, Rakesh Khajuria, Rajesh Sharma, Chander Kiran, Sunl Dutt Khajuria and many more.
