Enugu State Taekwondo Association President Ebere Amaraizu has tasked state athletes preparing for the upcoming Southeast National Taekwondo Championship to win many laurels for the state .
Amaraizu gave the charge in a conversation with reporters in Enugu yesterday about the state’s athlete preparations.
Recall that the Southeast Taekwondo U-18 Championship is due to take place on August 21 at the Indoor Sports Hall of Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
He praised the coaches and board members of the National Taekwondo Association for their efforts to ensure that the upcoming competition is a huge success, with the state winning a fair number of medals.
Amariazu said the upcoming event will create ample opportunity and platform for self-discovery and state laurels.
“It is also important to remind our children and young people of the positive orientation of the values ​​that taekwondo brings into their lives.
“This focus revolves around integrity, modesty, survival skills for a good life, coping skills, indomitable spirit and much more.
“These principles of taekwondo will help children and young people to discover themselves and to orient themselves strategically,” he said.
Amaraizu said the championship was supported by the Police Campaign Against Cults and Other Vices (POCACOV) as it revolved around reorienting children and youth values, self-discovery and strategic leadership.
The event would include a Kukkuwon black belt ranking, as well as a national taekwondo referee course.
Other categories presented include Kiddles between U-5 and U-10, Cadets between U-11 and U-14 and Junior between U-15 and U-17.
The five Southeastern states: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo State are expected at the championships.
