Ghanaian boxer, Yarkor ‘Chavez’ Annan has revealed that she hasn’t made any money from boxing despite traveling to fight in Europe and the United States.

Speaking in an interview with Graphic Sports, the boxer said she hasn’t been able to build a property on her own after years of dedication to the sport.

“I haven’t made any money from boxing, even if I show you my bank account, I don’t even have a cedi because people haven’t been honest with me. My manager, Sam Nortey didn’t help me,” she said.

Recounting how she lost her earnings to her manager, Sam Nortey, Yarkor said: “When I went to the UK I fought a lady in Scotland and I won 1200 pounds but the money went away. been sent to my cousin in Ghana.”

“I wasn’t happy because I couldn’t buy anything in the UK so I came back empty handed. My mum was sick and my cousin was also refusing to answer my calls. I got worried and I reported to then GBA boss Sammy Captan, Nii Lante Vandepujie and Azumah Nelson and they assured me to help them,” the boxer recounted.

Yarkor was one of the first cultures of female boxers to emerge from Ghana. She is currently training female boxers in her Bukom community and hopes to return to the ring for a mega money fight.
