J&K’s Danish taekwondo athlete to be ambassador for Fit India movement


In another achievement, a 24-year-old taekwondo athlete from the Danish Manzoor of Jammu and Kashmir is set to be the ‘Fit India Mission Ambassador’ of the Fit India movement.

While confirming to Rising Kashmir, the Danish taekwondo athlete said he has been appointed as a Fit India Ambassador for the Fit India Movement.

“I feel proud and truly honored to have been chosen as an ambassador for the Fit India movement,” he said, adding, “It’s a great feeling to be part of the movement.”

Hailing from Gulshan Abad settlement in Baramulla district in North Kashmir, the 24-year-old has brought many laurels to the valley even in the past.

At the 2021 Tokey Memorial Open Taekwondo Championship, the athlete was named “Best Male Athlete”, and he even won the silver medal.

After being selected as an ambassador for the Fit India Movement, the Dane will strive to inculcate healthy habits in and around him, to make India a fit nation.

The Dane recently competed in the Israel Open G2 Olympic Ranking Taekwondo Championship held in Ramla, Israel in August 2022, where he represented India in the 58-man weight class, sponsored by the Help Foundation ; an NGO based in J&K, working for the betterment of society.

He was phenomenal in his sporting journey from the start and worked hard to achieve his dreams.

After learning the art, he participated in many tournaments where he won many medals, which amplified his passion for martial arts and motivated him to learn sophisticated martial arts techniques.

During his eight-year career in taekwondo, the Dane has not only won many medals, but he is the first from J&K to compete in the Asian Indoor Games. He was among the top 20 athletes in the world at the first-ever European International Online Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2020.

He participated in the 2nd India Open Olympic Ranking International Taekwondo Championship and was recommended by the J&K Taekwondo Association as a potential athlete to attend the first ever Olympic level camp under the world number one coach Olympic-level Paul Green of Great Britain.

“Being an ambassador for the Fit India Movement is indeed a huge achievement for me,” he said.

Ahead of Danish, famous Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, Wushu trainer and first Dronacharya winner from Jammu and Kashmir, Kuldeep Handoo, International Woodball player Dr. Prem Prakash Meena, Ironman-Kapil Arora are other prominent figures who have been ambassadors for the Fit India movement.

The Fit India movement was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 29, 2019, “National Sports Day India”, with the aim of changing behavior towards an easier and better (sedentary) lifestyle to a physically active lifestyle. life today.

Its main purpose is to raise awareness among the citizens of the country and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle and physical activities.
