Ludhiana players win 30 medals at North Zone Karate Championship

Karate players brought laurels to the district as 30 players won medals, two gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze, at the North Zone Karate Championship held at Chandigarh University, SAS Nagar, October 8-10.

The winners were congratulated on Wednesday by district sports manager Ravinder Singh at the Guru Nanak stadium.

No less than 500 players from various states in the northern zone participated in the tournament.

Thirty-one Ludhiana players represented Punjab in the championship. The state took second place in the championship.

Ludhiana District Karate Association General Secretary Ashok Chohan said Ludhiana players played a key role in securing second place for the state.

District sports manager Ravinder Singh praised the players and coaches.

The vice-president of the association Rakesh Kumar as well as the coaches Raju Bharti, Gagandeep Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Chuninda Chauhan, Harkaran Singh, Sahil Kumar were present at the award ceremony.

Results: Kabir Malhotra and Nikhil won the gold medal.

Vidhi Gulati, Chuninda Chohan, Sahil Kumar Harmanveer Singh, Gursahib Singh, Sahajleen Kaur, Vivaan Jindal, Rihan Malhotra and Mahesh Kumar Kanda won the silver medal.

Kanishk Gupta, Ayansh Nitin Kataria, Tanush Lekhi, Magar Singh, Hunar Goswami, Arhaan Malhotra, Parth Goswami, Paramvir Singh, Rishit Bhatia, Mohit Kumar Kanda, Uttkarsh Jain, Arth Antwal, Hiushya Sarkar, won Anayka Arora, won Anayka Arora bronze medal.
