Michael Bisping had nothing but praise for his former rival Anderson Silva who found success in the boxing ring.

Silva, who is now actively competing as a boxer after a long MMA career, looks nothing short of impressive since lacing up the gloves.

Known for his incredibly diverse strikes, the hands of the former UFC middleweight champion translated into the boxing ring where he upset former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and n made a bite of former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz.

“Anderson Silva is one of the greatest martial artists this human race has ever seen,” Bisping said on his YouTube channel. “He’s a modern day Bruce Lee. Anderson Silva truly is one of the greatest of all time, and that’s just a fact.”

Bisping defeated Silva in an all-time classic battle at the O2 Arena in 2016, where he had to fight serious adversity thanks to a thundering knee from Silva. After outliving Silva in a five-round war, Bisping believes Ortiz should have been much more strategic against the elusive Silva, instead of throwing himself forward, which resulted in him getting his face screwed.

“Tito said he was going to come out and he was going to put a hole in his head and that he’s a fighter and everything, and he won’t use any of that wing-chun bullshit on him,” Bisping said. “Well, that’s not the way you fight Anderson Silva. You can’t go up against Anderson Silva and be aggressive… Anderson Silva’s timing is impeccable, his reflexes are feline, urban and the variety of attacks from Anderson Silva is breathtaking.

The resurgence of Silva’s career has stunned many, including UFC President Dana White. After winning just one fight in his last nine MMA outings, Silva has found new life in the boxing ring, which Bisping says is an incredible achievement at this point in his career.

“For Anderson Silva to continue doing it, at this level, at 46, after his career in mixed martial arts – we all know the disgrace he has had,” Bisping said. “He lost a few fights and then he ended up getting knocked out against Uriah Hall, it looked like it was over. But he’s really had a rebirth and as an Anderson Silva fan, and make no mistake, I’m an Anderson Silva fan, you have to be. How not to respect the work he had?

“And also the way he behaves. Of course he had the little thing with steroids and everything and you all know my take on that and trust me when I fought him I gave him my thoughts on it, make no mistake about it. I punished him for that, I ridiculed him, I insulted him to the max. But still, it’s water under the bridge, and on Saturday night Anderson Silva looked absolutely fantastic. So kudos to Anderson, there is still life in the old dog.
