MSDE launches its Skill India self-defense training workshop

Calcutta, March 30 (UNI) In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary “Mission Karmayogi” agenda, the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship on Wednesday inaugurated a five-day self-defense training – “Meri Suraksha, Meri Zimmedari “. The program was organized by the Sports Skills, Physical Education, Fitness and Recreation Council (SPEFL-SC) and saw the participation of more than 50 women. Mission Karmayogi’ by Modi is a one-of-a-kind initiative that focuses on building capacity while modernizing the thinking and approach of government employees. This self-defense program was designed by SPEFL-SC based on the best combat systems in the world such as Krav Maga, Kali, Silat, Wing Chun and others. Instructors are experts in teaching the world’s best techniques as well as situational awareness. These techniques were designed by combat experts with 15 years of experience, and are easy to learn and execute under threat. While explaining the importance of such workshops, Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, said, “Women’s safety is the government’s top priority, and with this vigilante programme, we hope to encourage women to enroll in such training modules. to protect themselves from any form of aggression or threat. The ministry is committed to establishing platforms where women can learn self-defense from self-defense experts. Furthermore, creating a safer environment for women is essential to ensure the safety and integrity of the country’s female workforce, and this is a small step in the right direction. We hope that this pilot project will be a success and that we will be able to offer these sessions to other ministries, departments, schools and organizations in a more structured and results-oriented workshop. Commenting on the initiative, Tahsin Zahid, CEO of the Sports, Physical Education, Fitness & Leisure Skills Council, said, “A safer environment for women is the need of the hour, initiatives like these are a step in the right direction. Self-defense should be encouraged in women to ensure they are self-reliant when it comes to defending themselves when threatened. One of the employees expressed her gratitude for the workshop: “Self-defense skills are vital for everyone, especially working women like us. Knowing that we have the ability to defend ourselves, we feel safe and empowered. It was an enriching experience for all of us. In a context of increasing crime against women, learning self-defense techniques is the need of the hour for women to protect themselves. Caution is the key to safety. Learning self-defense techniques will help women become more aware, cautious and equipped in times of danger from these criminals. This will also help to reduce the number of crimes against women. The training program aims to equip women with a safeguard mechanism to deal with threatening situations. The goal is to empower and empower them to protect themselves from real life scenarios such as sexual assault, kidnapping, sexual assault, bullying, etc. Participants in the self-defense program learn to deal with multiple situations of aggression, especially muggings. Additionally, women are also trained to counter knife and gun attacks with everyday objects that could be used as weapons against a potential killer. Additionally, the training also includes tips on defending against slaps, punches, street smarts, and the use of the Nirbhaya self-defense kit. The training program was inaugurated by Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, MSDE in the presence of Mrs. Anuradha Vemuri, Joint Secretary, MSDE, Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Additional Secretary, MSDE, Mrs. Prabha Sharma, Under Secretary, MSDE and Shri Tahsin Zahid, CEO.
