Six of the nation’s most experienced boxing journalists have teamed up to produce a daily online boxing show that promises to be exciting, informative and fun. âRound by Roundâ presented by Eastern Communications brought together Atty. Ed Tolentino, Ryan Songalia, Dennis Principe, Nissi Icasiano, Boyet Sison and this writer for the very first time. All told, the half-dozen of us have over a century of combined boxing broadcast experience.
Tolentino, a full-time lawyer, began his media career as a sports journalist for a magazine in 1986, writing wrestling and boxing stories and columns. He got his first television exposure in 1998, and was ABS-CBN’s in-house analyst for ALA Promotions events and the long-running anthology series “Top Rank Boxing”. Songalia was Rappler’s sports writer before returning to the United States. He is an award-winning member of the Boxing Writers Association of America and writes for The Ring. Dennis Principe, meanwhile, started his broadcasting career over 20 years ago on the former SportsRadio before joining PTV Sports and now PTV News. He is now editor of the Manila Bulletin. The three have been highly visible doing television and radio interviews and analysis ahead of the Pacquiao-Ugas WBA Super World Welterweight title fight.
Nissi Icasiano has been an independent combat sports practitioner, writer and broadcaster for over a decade. His work has been published by well-known sports and mainstream news sites, and he has been interviewed regularly by national television channels on boxing, mixed martial arts and wrestling. DJ Boyet Sison has been a 15-year broadcast veteran and co-hosted this writer on “Hardball,” which won three Gawad Tanglaw Awards for Best Sports Show in his 13-year history as that only sports program on ABS-CBN News Channel. Boyet also went on to become a respected news anchor and co-hosted the popular dzMM program “Fastbreak” with former Senator Freddie Webb. The writer, meanwhile, has been a veteran of sports broadcasting and documentary film producer for 35 years, and has been a columnist for The STAR for more than a quarter of a century.
âIt will be a one of a kind show,â Principe said. “We all wanted to work together, so it’s going to be fun.”

Round By Round will provide non-partisan coverage of all the latest news, decisions, stats, starting with a breakdown of the entire Pacquiao-Ugas map. It will air on Facebook at 6 p.m. Philippine time, Monday through Friday, and on YouTube shortly thereafter.
