LAHORE, October 22 (APP): The Pakistani taekwondo team returned home on Friday after securing third place at the Fajr Open held in Tehran, Iran.
Pakistan Olympic Association and Pakistan Taekwondo Federation officials greeted the team on their return
According to the team’s media manager, Shiraz Asif, 17 nations competed in the Fajr Open and Iran took the win while Turkey secured second place.
Haroon Khan from Pakistan won 2 silver medals and Shahzaib won a bronze medal. Haroon lost the final of the -58 kg category to Iranian Muhammad Sadiq.
When he arrived, Haroon said the best players in the world took part in the event, which was a great learning exhibit for the teams.
“During the event, we met our contemporaries and professional coaches, which will come in handy at our next Army Chiefs of Staff G-1 Taekwondo Championship event next month.” , he added.
National team coach Shahzada Muhammad Asif said: “We are happy with the performance of the players against the top players at the Fajr Open.
There is a huge Taekwondo talent in Pakistan that needs government patronage. We thank the President of the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation, Colonel (right) Waseem Janjua and the CEO of Combaxx Sports, Omar Saeed, for arranging all the facilities for this event ”.
