Hulu releases a new trailer for its series about the life and career of Mike Tyson titled Mike, and asks what viewers really know about the man.
Hulu releases a new trailer for its series on the life and career of Mike Tyson titled Mike. Tyson is a former boxer who competed professionally from 1985 to 2005 and held his world heavyweight title from 1987 to 1990. Tyson is a controversial figure inside and outside the ring for several events, including biting off part of Evander Holyfield’s ear during a boxing match.
Now the eight part trailer Hulu limited series asks audiences how well they actually know the man. Beginning with the trailer, the series will explore Tyson’s childhood and adulthood inside and outside of the ring. Moonlight star Trevante Rhodes will portray Tyson, with a supporting cast of Russell Hornsby (The hate you give) and Harvey Keitel (reservoir dogs) among others. Me Tonya writing and directing team Steven Rogers and Craig Gillespie reunite for the series with showrunner Karin Gist (our kind of people).
The series aims to take a look at the highs and lows of Tyson’s career and life, so audiences have a better understanding of him, rather than painting him strictly as a hero or villain. With Rogers, Gillespie, and veteran showrunner and executive producer Gist on board, the series has an opportunity for success. Viewers will have to judge for themselves whether Mike will be added to the list of docudramas to watch when it premieres August 25 on Hulu.
